I actually thought this album was kind of underwhelming. I do appreciate a beautifully crafted folk record, such as Nick Drake’s Pink Moon, or Joni Mitchell’s Blue, but with the exception of the hypnotising Scarborough Fair, this album was a bit of a snooze fest. Scarborough Fair was inspired by traditional English folk and as a result sounds very medieval and timeless, like a pagan campfire. But I would overall rate this album a 4/10. I think Simon & Garfunkel are better at compilation albums - when putting a solid project together in my opinion they lack variety to their melodies and arrangements. You can still make an album sound sonically varied and keep you on your toes and stick to one solid genre.
