Aladdin Sane by David Bowie
Feb 14 2024

Solid rock album, most of the songs were nice tunes that I may go back to. There were just some songs that were a bit too messy/noisy for my personal taste and they drag the record down a bit for me.

Songs For Swingin' Lovers! by Frank Sinatra
Feb 15 2024

I have to mention that Frank Sinatra's talent and passion on this record are undeniable. but I feel like the songs on the album all sound very similar. Each individual song was quite good but a lot of the album felt redundant, even on the second listen.

To Pimp A Butterfly by Kendrick Lamar
Feb 16 2024

I don't feel like it's possible for me to fairly garner an opinion on this album in just one day, it's just far too dense. Even as a non-hip hop fan, I can appreciate the quality of the catchy choruses & flows, and the concept of the album alongside its lyrical cleverness cannot be overlooked. I just think that on certain verses Kendrick's voice can be a little grating and there are some features that I'm not a huge fan of. Definitely a great record, though.

At Mister Kelly's by Sarah Vaughan
Feb 17 2024

I was skeptical when I saw that it was a live album, but I honestly loved it. Sarah is so talented vocally and the production was way better than I'd expect from a live album - aside from the ad-libs and applause I never could guess that it was live. The charm is fantastic and it was just so fun to listen to. Even though I don't care too much for Jazz, I'll have to give it a 5.

Feb 18 2024

On the first listen I actually enjoyed it much more but the replayability is lacking in my opinion. The beats on this album are top-tier but the lack of real lyrics gets old pretty quickly, I almost would prefer if it were just an instrumental album at that point. But it does have charm and I imagine the album inspired some of today's hyperpop so I have to give credit where it's due. It's a fun listen but I probably wouldn't go out of my way to listen again.

Feb 19 2024

Going from To Pimp A Butterfly to this album probably gave me whiplash. I know they're from two different eras, but it displays the lyrical depth that Straight Outta Compton lacks. While the beats are fairly catchy in most parts, the album feels one-dimensional and has simply been done better.

Moondance by Van Morrison
Feb 20 2024

This is a quaint, rustic R&B album that I don't have any specific complaints about. With the good beats and bass lines acting as good foundations for many of these songs, they're pretty well-made, but I wish there was a little bit more vocal melody in some of these songs-especially the verses.

Music From The Penguin Cafe by Penguin Cafe Orchestra
Feb 21 2024

I've never been entirely able to get into purely instrumental music, but I think I can respect the composition of these tracks. It can't exactly keep my zoomer attention span piqued but I still think it's decent.
