1001 Albums Summary

the first song is something i’d expect to hear in a heist movie. cool instrumentals, love the jazz, funk and soul, but it’s not what i usually go for. i appreciate it but not my favourite

This was an experience. The use of unconventional sounds and ambient noises makes it otherworldly. I was transported to a dance club, a jazz club, a city, a garden and god knows where else. The style is all over the place and the transition between the songs were cool.

Each song is so well crafted. A smorgasbord of sounds, interesting mix of material. The tracks are arranged fairly simply but have a different feel than your average Simon and Garfunkel track. it was a very pleasant sounding, light-footed album. The album features a range of musical styles, such as blues and folk rock, and it starts off with a ska-infused tune that instantly lifts your spirits. All in all a really solid album of great tunes, from a prolific artist.

bruce does upbeat, fast paced and slow paced songs really well. nothing particularly stands out to me, but everything works together beautifully. you can feel the americana spirit for sure. time to eat a big mac and punch a commie in the dick.
