Portishead
I've heard of Portishead for 20 years now. Loved some songs, kept saying I will get around to listening to the entire album.
Boy....was I missing out.
Love it! The music is great, the lyrics are just my right kind of gloomy, the singer's voice soothes my soul. The vibe is cohesive, the songs flow into one another, each one different and unique, never changing tone. Great soundtrack for the angsty end of times.
Aptly titled. Tight project, overall.

LTJ Bukem
This might be the best dnd album I have ever heard in my life. Granted, I only dance to dnd and never actually listen to it.
So this one was a surprise, for sure. A very welcome one.

The Beta Band
I am forgetting the songs while listening to them. I might remember this album just because of this. I wonder if it is hard to reach this level of blandness...
Interesting to note that the only song with some kind of spirit samples a great one from Siouxie and the Banshees. It is a poor, tortured attempt, but it was the only time this album made me feel anything.
Listening to this till the end was like waiting for water to boil.

What a gem.
I will be listening to this on repeat for the next... I don't know how many days, weeks, months, probably years.
This album grabbed my soul, melted my brain and body, reshaped and recast me, poured all kinds of filth in my ears, riled me up, made me furious, made me horny, made me want to burn the world.
We chanted together, we despaired, we loved and we abused. We went to the deepest hell and somehow, we found light.
The fact that you can also dance to this music is pure genius.
Extraordinary.

One of my favourite bands of all times, one of my favourite soundtracks of all times, one of my favourite movies of all times... I almost feel 14 again and it is all coming back to me...
This album holds up though, nostalgia or not.
It sits perfectly balanced on the fine line between fantasy and nightmare.
Timeless Love.
