Here's Little Richard
Little Richard
(initial thoughts)
Interesting first pick. I'm familiar with Tutti Frutti, not anything else. at least I don't think I am, just from looking. My dad used to sing that one a lot. I know it's in some 80's movie, I can only assume he got it from there.
(post listen)
Alright, well, my first worry upon receiving this album was that it was gonna fall into the same "every song sounds exactly the same" trap that most 50's music does. and yeah, I was right. every song here does indeed sound exactly the same, with one or two exceptions. One thing I will say is that Little Richards energy is super apparent here, unlike some other records from this era. it's super clear he really did love to make music. Extra points for that, and of course for his impact on rock n roll, but overall this is still just kind of whatever. high two.

The Stone Roses
The Stone Roses
This was an extremely nostalgic listening experience for me, which is pretty odd, considering id never heard this album beforehand. Not even a snippet. something about the echoey vocals and chill vibe just make it sound like a distant summer's memory. like something that'd play from my dad's shitty 30 year old boombox during a pool party. I fuck with that hard. Not every song did something special for me, but I liked it a lot all around.
Strong 3, light 4

Simon & Garfunkel
OH MY GOOOOOODDD i love this album. i already love simon and garfunkel but this is for sure their best. i've played it many times in the background while i work or write or paint, some of these songs are permanently ingrained in my life at this point. beautiful, gentle, comforting. it's helped me through a lot.
