1001 Albums Summary

Kicking things off with the debut album Murmur by R.E.M, I’ve always sort of known about them but have never listened to a full album until now. For starters this album does have a cozy, easygoing, and relaxed feeling to it. I enjoyed the instrumentation, and the vocals grew on me as the album progressed, and the lyrics serve their purpose, overall a decently good time! However, I don’t see myself coming back to this during any casual listening, it’s good but doesn’t wow me or excite me as much as it probably would’ve had I been there during their breakout years (as I understand they are very influential). The songs kind of bleed together near the end to me (tbf I’ve only listened to this twice now) so while enjoyable, it doesn’t leave me wanting to hear it again and again. That being said I’d be down to listen to more from the band to hear how they progressed throughout their career. Solid and enjoyable listen 👍🏻 My favorite song: Sitting Still
