Dire Straits
by Dire Straits
A classic; emblematic of so many styles that were gaining popularity in the genre circa the late 70s while still maintaining a sound and tone that would be distinct and recognizable for the band's entire career. "Setting Me Up" could have been A Working Man's Dead b-side easily, but these brits do more than just Americana. This album switches up tempos right on cue, and grabs you til the very end with bold, thumping bass driving every song forward, as Knopfler's guitar soars and flourishes. Overall very solid release.
