Otis Blue/Otis Redding Sings Soul
Otis ReddingOtis Redding isn’t my preferred soul artist of this era, but his music is always great and the dude had such an evocative voice.

wasn’t expecting much, was honestly blown away. i feel like some of it drags a bit, but that could just be it needing to grow on me. there are certainly great tracks highlights for me were mambo sun, cosmic dancer, girl, the motivator, life’s a gas
yeah, just an amazing record! wasn’t really expecting the second side to me (mostly) instrumental, but wow every moment was amazing. this was probably the first 5/5 record so far, but i’m only 3 albums in so,,, highlights include: joe the lion, “heroes” (obviously), moss garden, v-2 schneider
i believe ive listened to this album maybe once before. janis joplin’s vocals are great, i can see a through-line from her vocal style to robert plant’s. the guitar work is awesome and the effects create really awesome textures.
really great record! not much to say, i wish i could really dig in more with each of these. highlights: “memories can’t wait”, “mind”, “animals”, “drugs”
yeah, ive already done this one. i need to loop back to R.E.M. and depeche mode this weekend. this is a great record, i just always have a hard time listening to elliott smith cause of how easily his music conjures my internal depressive qualities. if there’s any of his albums that draw parallels to nick drake’s music, it’s certainly this one. highlights include alameda, between the bars, pictures of me, rose parade, say yes
lol, nothing to say that hasn’t been said.
dont need to say much
