1001 Albums Summary

Pros Nice use of medieval sounding instruments African influences are cool "The boy in the Bubble" is probably my favorite song "You can call me Al" is also very good Cons Rest of the album is decent, but not great Slower songs are a bit boring Not as good as I expected it to be

A lot, That is probably my takeaway from this album. Lots of ideas and different styles, some I liked, others not so much. While I probably wont listen to the whole album again I'm definitely listening a couple of songs again. I really enjoyed the title track and "The ballad of Dorothy Parker". Personally I love the use of the 80's sounding drums and synths. Especially because they are accompanied by great sounding bass and guitar. Also a big fan of all the instrumental breakdowns.

Oh boy, sample city. I have listened to a lot of hip-hop records and my favorites are always the sample heavy songs. This record fits right into the category that always gets sampled, that being 70's soul. Its just a nice album to put on and let play, not much stands out but the vibe its sets is good. Al Green's voice also is awesome and the band does great work.
