1/1001. Didn't automatically jump out. Tried to focus on harmony and beauty as read online. Really enjoyed Let's Go Away for a While. Higher volume made me appreciate more the background. Lyrics felt a bit sappy but endearing. Saved God Only Knows and LGAFAW for further listening, but will re-run and update somewhere in the next week. Cowardly 6.5/10 on first listen, but albums veeeeery rarely grip me this early.

2/1001. Beautiful record, had already listened to it a few times before. Took a while to click (listens with proper headphones, for starters). Its highs are sensational (Steam, Stem, Midnight). Only knocks I can see is that otherwise its repetition can get a bit stale, and I value lyricism a lot so its absence limits the upside of becoming a phenomenal album to me. Either way this album sits firmly in 8/10 territory and I could see it ascending just by virtue of more exposure to its deeper cuts and associating it with other life events.

3/1001. You probably had to be there, yet I wasn’t there. Weird album to critique, some songs (Dancing Queen) are absolutely iconic as they’re larger than music, but I can’t get the deeper cuts to stay with me. The vocalist is infectious but it gets to the point of becoming grating at times. I’m sure I would have loved this in the 70s. Right now it’s not plainly bad, but it’s not interesting to me either. I’ll go 4/10.
