1001 Albums Summary

Foundation from where they build…the album and band are at their most interesting and enjoyable with non-standard instrumentations or arrangements, like the steel drum effect or slide guitar. That, and more upfront synths are what, to me, eventually define the band. Otherwise it’s fairly rote guitar comparisons that ape The Clash and its ilk. Byrne still finding his way as a writer and singer but you can tell he’s on the brink of the breakthrough.
