lorde's most accomplished album to date, she was always a very good lyricist but melodrama accompanied it in a way that enhances all the details in lorde's songwriting it makes for a very emotional portrayal of breaking up and the chaos that comes before moving on

a dance album with attitude, drama and aesthetic that still feels fresh to this day, it is often imitated but never matched the way the bricky compression and distortion enhances a lot of these beats feels like a perfect storm of influences and it's crazy fun it genuinelly never gets old

it has a lot of playful production that sometimes evokes homogenic era bjork paired with very intimate and sexual themes done in a way that feels like a very emotional and ethereal experience

very tongue and check forward thinking new wave alothough not all of the lyricism has ages gracefully it it undeniably fun 7/10

it's pleasant but it's a product of it's time

it's a masterfully engineered album that still sounds electrifying to this day, there's later bowie works that showcase his eccentricity more but this was the beginning for sure

might grow on me but for my first listen I found it to be a very well textured and detailed indie album with songs that constantly build and add ideas as they progress, very few moments that are not rewarding to listen to

it's a rock album that feels like it will be conceptually and musically relevant for a long time, it saw the writing on the wall on the very early stages of the internet of how it could change the way we connect or discourage us not to. it's a very obvious classic but it genuinelly deserves all it's flowers

im sure coldplay reheated their nachos multiple times so that steals some of the excitement in this sound but im sure this felt fresher when it just came out as there's several songs that are pretty good
