1001 Albums Summary

It was alright, pleasant, just not my cup of tea, I'm more into his Born in the USA era. If I had nore time it might have grown on me though.

Ah yeah, a nice snapshot of when the Beatlemania kicked off, quite representative, and also an example of the annoying missing off-album singles from around the same time, which was often the case with many of their popular songs not ending up on an LP until later collected releases. Also interesting presentation of the time how basically everyone covered everyone if a song was a hit. I was never into beat in general (way before my time), but it's a decent piece of their early output.

Wow this album must have been quite fundamental. The genre of intstrumental jazz or blues aren't really my thing but I was shocked how many of the songs I've recognised, I just never knew this band was the artist! (Green onion is one obvious thing but the riff in Rinky Dink, which might even predate this LP, I only heard first in the Mickey & Sylvia song that landed on the Dirty Dancing soundtrack.) Quite a pleasant listen, and a classic if someone's a fan or just in the mood.

So how do we get a follow up to what has given us Losing My Religion? Well, like this. A bit even more dark and moodier than it's predecessor, AFTP delivers, and gives us the next unforgettable sad hymn in the form of Everybody Hurts. Might need a mood for it but when it's right, it's a great LP.

It is...quite special. I only knew Loser before coming accross this follow up. I appreciate its merits, just the 'lofi', indie and accoustic tracks resonate more with me than the rap ones. (They're still old classic style rap though at least.) Often these are compared to the Beastie Boys which I'm also not a huge fan of but acknowledge theor due credit and influence. Took a few spins but now it has actually grown on me. I fully get why it's on the list.

As much as I've read, it's a fundamental jazz standard record. I'm not that knowledgable on jazz, but it was a pleasant listen, and I acknowledge its importance and historical value.
