Duran Duran

I have heard this album numerous times before it was randomly (right?) assigned as my first listen. I was barely an adult when this came out in 1982. I was drawn to some of the music of the early 80s New Romantic period including early Duran Duran, but, ultimately, it was a few degrees from what I enjoy about melody/harmony/sound/performance (too synthy, a bit overwrought, stylishness over substance). DD were/are decent tunesmiths but I just never connected with their output.
