Harvey has a bit of a Patti Smith vibe here, and the album starts with a rock/punk sound but also has a couple of songs that are more folky blues. My favorite song on the album is “You Said Something.” In my option, the lyrics and instrumentals are far more sophisticated than what pop music offers today - Harvey seems to be very talented all around.

Madman Across The Water by Elton John
Apr 14 2025

It’s absurd writing a review for Elton John. He’s a legend. All I’ll say is that there are some songs on here that I’ve never heard before and they’re all worth a listen. (I’ve always liked Elton John but have never bought one of his albums. Five stars is reserved for those I’d buy today.)

Machine Head by Deep Purple
Apr 15 2025

If you’re into 70’s rock, it’s worth a listen. I liked a few of these songs when I was 12 or so but don’t listen to this type of rock now. The story behind “Smoke on the Water” is sort of funny, so look it up. I’m rating this low (2 stars) not because the music isn’t good, it’s just because it’s not something I’d recommend in 2025.
