1001 Albums Summary

This was the longest 40 minutes of my life. Every song sounded the same bar O Plebeu and Taj Mahal which were the only ones I slightly enjoyed. Had to listen to Robbie afterwards to calm down. It did not make me want to samba it wanted me to put on something else.

The first two songs made me think I was about to start loving Bob Dylan from this day on but then the next like 8 songs sounded the exact same, starting getting better towards the end but this album was just the same song for 30 minutes and those 7+ minute songs were just tedious sorry Robert

I’m convinced this whole album is an inside joke where we pretend it’s great. The song concept was 1. Prince sings about sex for a bit 2. Prince makes screaming sounds 3. Prince sings about sex for a bit more. All songs sound like something I’d skip in a fifa soundtrack. Also please don’t talk about my stepmother like that please Prince I thought you were gay anyway thank you xxx great voice though!

Still don’t like it. Unfortunately it still doesn’t click for me - when it’s good it’s good but the rest just really bores me. Tbf it took my dad 50 years to like nirvana so maybe by the time we’re at album 10950 I may give it 5 stars. At least I now know Kurt Cobain’s willy is good. I hate shouting songs so much.

Safe to say I did not stay for the UK only tracks Ms. Matronic because this was shit. Genuinely had to listen to this in 3 go’s and had to listen to the actual Comfortably Numb after potentially the worst ever cover I’ve heard. They sounded like if Jamiroquai and the Bee Gees decided they would try and create the worlds worst album they could.

I’ve always said I was a fan of New Order but after listening to this maybe I shouldn’t be lol. It sounded like an AI Generated 80’s synth album and it was incredibly boring unfortunately. I genuinely feel like Simon Cowell doing these reviews but we just haven’t had a good album yet. Final song was class though tbf.

Hey it’s the guy from Skins! Feel bad giving it a 1 out of 5 because you guys think I’m mean but it’s gonna be really difficult/impossible to get a 5 star album on a first listen I think. I really liked Father & Son and obviously Wild World is a classic but the rest kind of was just lifeless. Sozinho.

Okay I feel like I’m not going to get any stick for this one. Only You Know was actually really good, but that was the only song I found any real connection with unfortunately. He has a great voice though! Songs were just pretty samey and didn’t really go anywhere exciting - never even heard of this guy before!

FINALLY. This album was great. I’d only listened to the classics on this before, but I really enjoyed some of the new ones as well. My uncle like worships Bruce so I’d been trying to listen to some more of his music this past year but he’s got like 12 albums so it’s tricky. Love I’m on fire but best new song was Bobby Jean that was absolutely brilliant. There were a few lulls with a couple of songs that just kind of seemed lifeless or are just told better in other songs like Darlington County, My Hometown etc., but this hooked me and took me on a journey. You can see where Sam Fender gets it from too!
