5/10. I wrote some notes on a song-by-song breakdown and then it got deleted. So this is what I have for today: - YYZ is effectively serving as an instrumental interlude at the mid point-ish of the album, transitioning into the more mellow song with Limelight - This whole album can be defined by its use of the synthesizer, with some strong drum/guitar interactions. - The Camera Eye being 10:58 min long, ok I see where Taylor Swift All Too Well (10 min verison) got the inspo. This song seems to be separated into acts/movements and it reminds me a lot of musical theater storytelling - I assume Witch Hunt is being referenced in the portrait in the foreground of the album, which makes me wonder if there are other references in the cover art. If so, I like the cohesion between the album and the album art. - The vocal style is not my personal favorite, but I can see where it probably influenced modern artists like Greta Van Fleet. - There's a lot of moments that felt like it could be backing music to a Regular Show montage, which is probably due to the strong synth use. I also liked moments like in The Camera Eye where the music felt cinematic and I could envision a scene playing out with the music in the back.
