The Downward Spiral
Nine Inch Nails
Going back in the log to scream about how much I love this album. I got this in like, 1995? My brother and I were doing a bowling team and we'd qualified for some regional tournament, and while we were out of town I bought this on cassette and absolutely wore the hell out of that tape. Stone cold classic, easily one of my favorite records of all time.

man clearly has some _real opinions_ when it comes to women and that keeps getting in front of what is some pretty nicely composed songs if they were about anything else.

I'm Your Man
Leonard Cohen
not without any merit, but so often the synth use here sounds like a casio preset in a way that's just bad, and it's late enough that someone should have done something better. apparently the casio-preset quality to some of this stuff might be ironic? but if so that doesn't make it any better and maybe makes me respect it less.
I'd be much more down for a sound like this if it were an up-and-coming artist using prosumer grade gear because that's what they could get and making this earnestly than very established well known and connected musician doing this out of irony

incredible vibes. production was so strong especially in comparison to the leonard cohen album from yesterday. a fantastic listen, some of this still feels genuinely fresh.

Songs Of Leonard Cohen
Leonard Cohen
this is a great album. the sparseness of the arrangements is great in imparting a real clarity to things. probably not an album that I'm going to revisit a ton as I'm just personally a little less interested in this sort of folk thing, but a great listen for this project.

production is incredible. a remarkable album. shame about a piece of shit kanye is, and looking at the evidence the guy left about some of his toxic attitudes (see: the next workout plan). one for a category I expect to see a lot of out of this list, "incredible album by someone who is a real piece of shit"

this just falls flat for me. it feels of an era, and I can imagine where this is probably hugely influential, but also, it's just not my thing.
best song is two tub man, which is pretty good
