1001 Albums Summary

I was expecting angsty vocals and themes but was surprised by some really relaxing and ethereal tracks. Like meditation music with a little something extra. Some songs reminds me of Imogen Heap. I understand now why people would offer, “want to get high and listen to Radiohead”.

I had a hard time emotionally connecting to the music, but it seems like it would be a fun time live. Reminded me of The Killers but this music feels like hearing loud busking on a beach boardwalk on a sunny day while slightly inebriated while most Killers songs sound like midnight confessions in the dark. I would put a dollar in the guitar box.

Very cute, pretty vocals, and some fun, funny, and quotable lyrics. Imagine if a couple of Hobbits got to leave the Shire and explore a world not solely based on Europe.

Big music that sounds like it was meant to ring across full stadiums. Gives Rock Star energy yet is full of stories about discarded and neglected men, women, and children. Has enough empathy and respect for them to avoid crossing into “we live in a society- the joker” mode, for the most part.

I grew up on The Quiet Storm, so this gives me nostalgia for nights headed home in the back seat of my parent’s car. Yet I’m able to connect to the sensuality of the music as an adult. Very beautiful and special. This album probably helped conceive a generation.

Every song that doesn’t have professional background singers on the track was hard for me to sit through. And unfortunately for me it’s the first and last out of 9 songs. I gave a star for each. Blues vocals are supposed to dig deep into you, stimulate and soothe the vagus nerves. If I could I would give another half a star for the praise break in the middle of Midnight Rambler. I’m not familiar with the drug combo that influenced this music and therefore cannot vibe with it.
