1001 Albums Summary

A fun album to listen to. You can really feel the vibe of 1960s soul music. The performance highlights Sam Cooke’s charisma and his interaction with the audience. His backing band is also excellent. The reason this album gets four stars rather than five is the recording quality. The songs were recorded live in vintage quality — while it definitely captures the magic of the club atmosphere, this particular sound makes it harder for me to include songs from this album in my playlists. It's the kind of album that's fun to play in full every now and then.

An album that enjoyable from start to finish. Sixties towards Seventies country rock with touches of psychedelia around the edges. A perfect album to return to on long drives. Favorite track: Proud Mary, that just eases up to the last track.
