Unknown Pleasures
Joy Division
Definitely have an appreciation for this, there's a lot to take from a creative perspective noting how effective individual parts can be in a track without being too assertive on their own, but don't find myself coming back to it. Feels a little flat and hard to engage with. One of the best album covers ever, though.

This album feels like rock and roll and is definitely a statement. A lot is put out by this album, and while I don't find myself personally relating to most of it, it does feel substantial and novel in many ways. An album I am glad to have consumed but unlikely to come back to.

This album feels kinda cliche in large part, I believe, because it was so defining of an era. While I think some albums are more timeless, that's still really respectable. It's fun and flows front to back though not hugely dynamic. Good stuff.

The Downward Spiral
Nine Inch Nails
I lack personal knowledge of the context of the times but this does feel like a novel album. To have the range and end with a song like Hurt end the album is pretty impressive. That being said, not totally my style. Respect though.

Singular album, seminal work of art. So ambitious and challenging, yet consumable. It pushes in all the right ways and almost dares you to suggest it doesn't pull it off. You can't.
