I Am a Bird Now by Antony and the Johnsons
Jun 03 2025

Some beautiful songs and lyrics. Perhaps too many of the songs are too similar to make me want to listen to the whole album again. But would definitely listen to certain songs again. It’s an interesting album that probably deserves more than one listen to really understand

Bayou Country by Creedence Clearwater Revival
Jun 04 2025

It’s alright. Very very 1968. Maybe if it was my first time listening to CCR or rock music I would be blown away, but as it is I’m not really sure this is required listening.

Back To Black by Amy Winehouse
Jun 09 2025

Interesting listen. I was familiar with a number of songs previously, but had never listened to the whole album before. Musically it’s fun, very 1960’s Motown inspired, including sampling “Ain’t no Mountain…”. At first it feels like something to have on in the background at a party, but the lyrics are worth listening, too. They seem deeply personal, mostly dark and troubling. Not sure it’s an album I’d listen to often, but worthy listening and several stand out songs. And Winehouse’s voice is, of course, always a nice throaty contrast to other pop singers.
