To Pimp A Butterfly
Kendrick Lamar
I think I wasn't ready for this album. Like I missed a couple of decades of rap to get here, so I didn't see how it evolved to this state, and that made it a bit off putting for me? I also understand that I am not the target audience for this, as an old man.

Let's Stay Together
Al Green
The title track is immediately recognizable in 2025. The entire album is smooth easy and inoffensive. There's not a bad song on here from start to finish.

Machine Head
Deep Purple
It's not hard to imagine the tandem of Deep Purple and Black Sabbath contributing much of what heavy metal would end up being down the road. It's definitely something I can appreciate, but I think I still prefer the stuff that stood on their respective shoulders.

Rage Against The Machine
Rage Against The Machine
Music for me before this was filtered through my parent's classic rock or my cousin's metal tastes which were much more broad (love, drugs, heartache the devil, war etc). The topics and presentation of this was a kick in the chest in the best way.
