Power In Numbers by Jurassic 5
Jun 19 2025

Chill album at the start. Then things picked up. I preferred those songs that seemed to be better suited to be played live. "Break" and "A Day at the Races" as personal favorites. Per Spotify, "What's Golden" is the top track, and I can see it, but it doesn't click as well for me. Hip hop isn't my thing, but this is solid.

Live And Dangerous by Thin Lizzy
Jun 20 2025

I'm a lifelong metalhead and frankly this does nothing for me. I grew up on Metallica and all the Bay area thrash bands then moved to the Florida death metal in the '90s. I understand this band has laid the foundation for many heavier bands in the next decade. But for me? Meh. I think it's also their prog tendencies at times which works against my personal tastes. They're all very talented musicians. This is a great sounding live album by the way. "Massacre" is probably my favorite tune because you can see it setting the groundwork for Maiden and/or Metallica. But it's not for me.

Fragile by Yes
Jun 23 2025

I don't think I can adequately explain how much I hate this. I'm not a prog fan or of jam bands in general. This band is both. They're all very talented. Playing around in all these off-kilter time signatures playing difficult fills constantly. Bands like these play and noodle around for a long time with no payoff musically or emotionally. I find it all so boring. And frankly irritating. Just...no.

Head Hunters by Herbie Hancock
Jun 24 2025

I've heard of Herbie Hancock before, but I had never heard this album. I liked the first song with its ebbs and flow. The second song with more varied instruments is where I think its strengths lie. This jazz album certainly has a vibe, and I can see why so many think so highly of it.

Blonde On Blonde by Bob Dylan
Jun 26 2025

Probably my favorite album of Dylan's even though that's not a big difference from most. Lyrics weave from relatable to not knowing what he's going on about. It all works.
