omg i always thought simon and garfunkel were disney characters, like crunk or lumiere. so that was gaggy i didnt know they were real 😭😭😭. i feel like a hobbit trekking through mountains singing listening to the first 2 songs, very lord of the rings, very folky!! a little psychedelic but not in a tame impala way, it’s more calm. like a light dosage instead of a bag of lsd. then the vibe kinda shifts from Cloudy and Homeward Bound, it gets kinda beach boys like sitting in that volkswagen van on a coastal road with a guitar and a dream. the vibe shifts again with songs like The Dangling Conversation, it’s like that one scene in a 90’s romance film where they are giggling and strolling in a park!! “Communist cause i’m left handed” in A Simple Desultory Philippic is crazyyy they hate to see left handed people win; but i like this song its very camp, like they didn’t really take this one to seriously. the random silent night cover had me gagged LMFAO i was like whattttt, but the layering of the news headlines kinda ateee, they kinda did their big one. very atmospheric it literally felt like christmas night just chilling, and i love the juxtaposition of the very violent harsh headlines with such a calm song. standout to me is Patterns, it gets kinda africany with the bongo sound (i honestly don’t know what instrument they used for that) and it’s a interesting blend.
