So this is actually a movie soundtrack, but this is one of the few times when the soundtrack actually outsold the movie? Which is pretty cool. And it got Curtis Mayfield his future soundtrack work. It got added to the Library of Congress in 2019. Apparently Mayfield wrote it in a basement in Chicago and recorded it with a 40-person band at Bell Sound Studios in NYC. Super 70s groovy/funky. Instrumentals are cool, a lot of the "wah-wahs" sound like they would back the scenes in 70s cop shows where it pans out over the city. Someone said you don't even need to see the movie, just listen to the soundtrack and you already kinda know the whole movie" lol. The intro of "Give Me Your Love (Love Song)" is sampled in something, I don't remember what F. OVERALL: Not a bad listen. But maybe because I was listening while working, the second half starts to blend together a bit.
