1001 Albums Summary

Brand new band for me, so these thoughts might not represent the group as a whole. Album is definitely front-loaded with the stronger tracks in my opinion. I do appreciate that 90s crunch of the guitar and the absolute soul put into some of the lyrical delivery. They are all good tracks at the end of the day, but admittedly towards the end it starts to get a bit muddled for me where I find myself questioning when exactly in my life I'd want to throw them on. I also am not a huge fan of when albums have interludes before/after songs on the same track. Not that I wish to impose my will upon an artist's vision, but to me they hardly ever go anywhere meaningful so I just find myself reaching for the skip button. That first half though? Pretty solid. A bombastic entry into Queen's glam rock era, this album has such a solid composition it is incredible. Multiple times I was caught off guard by how well songs flowed directly into another, despite having wildly different styles to them. Just an overall damn good album Favorites: Killer Queen, Stone Cold Crazy, Misfire Flops: N/A

I have a difficult time talking about my feelings on music, because I don't feel like I have the proper knowledge to express my thoughts without defaulting to simplistic statements such as "I liked it". But I have to say, this album really did help me to gain a foothold on what the genre had to offer. It can be fun to think of each instrument as an element of a story. The piano set the mood, the sax plays the part of a narrator, the bass sets the pace, and the drums add a bit of drama and flair. Everyone might pull a different feeling, but I think that's sort of what it's all about So yeah, I liked it.
