Back To Black
Amy WinehouseClassic album with very soulful vocals and serious subject matter.
Classic album with very soulful vocals and serious subject matter.
I'm not super well versed in older hip hop/rap but liked this album much more than I expected I might. Smooth and flowy with jazz undertones.
5. Smooth, rhythmic, somehow both classic and innovative at the same time. Several occasions where I was surprised or turned my head. Take Five is a top ten song OAT for sure. Glad I got this one today.
3. Like in the intro, it's no secret that Sam Cooke is "Mr. Soul." This live performance had smooth transitions between songs and an overall good vibe but it didn't really work for me as an album. This was a recording of a live performance, and the pacing/order of songs doesn't really make sense as an album. Many of the songs sound very similar.
This album is all about the first song but other than that song it’s pretty below average over all.
Really don’t like the first song. Almost like a good Radiohead album but worse. Overall just too sort of alternative and weird for me.
1. This is truthfully not really my genre and while this might be a foundational album in this genre it's just a little bit whiny/screamy for me. In other words, while I can acknowledge how some others might like this album, it's not for me.
3/5. Solid. Nothing I especially disliked but also nothing I especially liked. Overall just solid.
3/5. Overall solid. Very 80s michael jacksony sound but with early rap/hip hop influences as well. Didn't especially hate any song on here.
