Lady Soul by Aretha Franklin

Beautiful, soulful, groovy, everything you could want from an artist like Aretha. Her voice can scream through the noise like no other, and the rest of the band deserves their credit as well for producing powerful rhythms to drive her through the record. You couldn’t get more timeless than this.

The College Dropout by Kanye West

Did I really have to listen to this Album again to rate it a 5/5? No. But did I have to listen to it because it is such an incredible album. The first 10 tracks are just an amazing listen with the back half still being very listenable. This album is evident of the creative genius that is Kanye West. This album is a mastery of sampling, flow, mastering, production, etc. you truly cannot have modern hip hop without this album.

Interesting to say the least. The music has a very entrancing effect to it that evokes strange emotions. Now I don’t dislike it because of the experimental post punk style. The grooving bass lines along with completely random guitar riffs are pretty intriguing, and the way the vocals are mixed reminds me of something off of Stratosphere by Duster. Rather, the fact that the songs seem to drag on without end and the vocals feel like they were all uninspired from the first take really takes a lot away from what could make this album enjoyable. Rhythm section is the most redeemable quality of the album.

Thriller by Michael Jackson

Incredible album, great blend of pop, rock, and rnb. Not a single skip. MJ’s vocals paired with the timeless rhythm and grooves really sets this as a masterclass of music production.

The Queen Is Dead by The Smiths

Very good album overall. Stellar performances by all members of the band, each voice can be heard distinctly over the others, however they all can still blend into a beautiful mix. The entire record has a distinct sound that is quite enjoyable, and it kind of draws you in to the world of the band.

Homework by Daft Punk

Good house album. A few of the songs were quite memorable, however outside of the dance aspect I don’t feel much of a need to listen to this again. But nonetheless is performs very well in the areas that it needs to, and uses some very pretty cool production techniques.

Led Zeppelin III by Led Zeppelin

Pretty fun to listen to. The talent behind the group is incredible. Jimmy Page’s guitar playing is a masterclass of music performance, and the roaring drumming of John Bonham never ceases to amaze. That being said, this album isn’t exactly my cup of tea, but I will not deny it is an incredible piece of music.

Bad Company by Bad Company

Traditional classic rock, not too flashy, not too boring. I don’t think the album is special in any specific way, but personally I find it quite enjoyable to listen to. Very catchy with some grooving songs.
