What a masterpiece of an album. Aretha Franklin had the voice of a century, encapsulating heartbreak, love, triumph, rage, and soul in one gift wrapped album. Absolutely brilliant.

Favorite song is either not time this time or ofc message in a bottle (death wish honorable mention). least favorite song is probably The beds too big without you. The same riff over and over again for 4 and a half minutes bored me. In general I noticed that the album uses a bunch of connective motifs and almost “samples” itself. It was rewarding being able to pinpoint those moments. This album was really solid, not mind blowing tho.
