This album started out SO strong. Feels like a record that was meant to be played at high volume on a nice soundsystem. It’s sooo very 80s in its production. The energy started to drag and get repetitive by the time I hit The Figurehead. Everything started to feel a little one-note. The title track was a nice treat and change of pace but a bonkers choice as an album ender. The one thing I know about The Cure is their dreamy, catchy hooks that beg to be in coming-of-age films, and there isn’t much of that in this record. It’s very cold and dark, and feels a little more like how Robert Smith looks tbh. It’s piqued my interest enough to dive further into the band but I don’t see myself casually throwing this record on again any time soon. Standout track: One Hundred Years
