Introducing The Hardline According To Terence Trent D'Arby
by Terence Trent D'Arby
Very much drawing inspiration from the King of Pop. Horn lines are delectable but I feel there is a sense of loss - too much trying to be the king of pop and individualistic character is removed from the pieces. Just looked it up - released in 1987 so perhaps not so much an influence but a direct competitor to Michael Jackson himself. Not sure how to feel about this album - the cohesiveness I feel is all over the place and nothing stands out to me specifically as Terence - but a tenor imitation of Jackson. To play in the shadows of a king is suffocating.
