1001 Albums Summary

My first time listening through Synchronicity, the title track (part 1) instantly reminds me of King Gizz. Very repetitive and fun, but not my cup of tea. Track 2 is really funny (Mr. DINOSAUR LOL), but kind of boring when coming off of Synchronicity. The atom bomb line is potent and makes the title of the song ring much more truthful than the at the start. Track 3 O my God is standard Police fare. Track 4: Mother starts out really cool, and reminds me of Oingo Boingo and Mr. Bungle with it's herky jerky lyric singing as well as the content of the song. Track 5 feels like a departure from track 5 but is still in it's orbit, drifiting closer to O my God and Synchronicity 1. Synchronicity 2 tells a fantastic story but I find kind of flat and regular but I understand its appeal. Every Breath You Take. King of Pain is fun, but standard Police fare. Wrapped Around Your Finger rules. Tea in the Sahara is laid back. Murder by Numbers has got to be my favorite track on the album.

First track is the eponymous Back at the Chicken Shack, a fun classic type of bluesy that is perfect for doing anything at a slower pace. When I Grow to Old to Dream is a upbeat and sax leading jam session. Instead of rating this one song by song, it's clear that this album is a fun jam session of artists practicing the more familiar aspects of jazz in a relaxed environment. Jimmy Smith's organ playing sort of holds the groove together while the rest of the band just gets to jam. It's a great time all the eay through and if you have a particular favorite in terms of jazz instrument, every song allows each of the ensemble to shine.
