A few unique bangers, and a bunch of average ripped-off American blues. Decent performances though. Essential? Maybe the bangers, not the album.

Fine. Clean. Safe, despite its obstinance.
It's hard to listen to this without mentally tracking the notion of Bono slowly disappearing up himself. But it's still a great album by a great band, and I'm thankful this moment of a band at the peak of their powers is distilled and captured. If I made this album I'd probably be full of myself too.
