1001 Albums Summary

A few unique bangers, and a bunch of average ripped-off American blues. Decent performances though. Essential? Maybe the bangers, not the album.

Its influence can't be denied. More of a Death Row collaborative effort though. Still, it wasn't about Snoop's skill, it was about his aesthetic. I wish Dre had reinforced the beats with better kick drum, this album could have hit so much harder.

Fine. Clean. Safe, despite its obstinance.

It's hard to listen to this without mentally tracking the notion of Bono slowly disappearing up himself. But it's still a great album by a great band, and I'm thankful this moment of a band at the peak of their powers is distilled and captured. If I made this album I'd probably be full of myself too.
