Standards: Rating is just how much I enjoyed listening to it. This is separate from the quality of the actual song and its lyrics and instrumentation. Wheels of Confusion/The Straightener: Lyrically the opposite of who I am but I appreciate a message of disillusionment with adulthood and how the life your promised as a kid more often than not doesn't come to fruition leading to a confusion that morphs into nihilism. Crazy guitar work at the end. 8/10 Tomorrow's Dream: I think the glimmer of hope in an otherwise bleak song lyrically really is complimented by the instruments, things suck but there's always something to work towards to some degree. 7.5/10 Changes: One of the few songs I knew already, but only the chorus. Unexpected change in tone! Lots of regret in this song (seemingly cheating?) and I think the chorus/title effects this idea of growing apart from someone you love (changing) and also growing from mistakes after reflecting on the consequences of your past self and choices such as betraying someone you love because of that shift (changing). 6/10 FX: Mmmmm an interlude. (unfair to rate, needed for album progression) Supernaut: I like the references to the first song here, seems like a good journey from nihilism to really embracing the absurd reality that is life! Going beyond expectation and living for yourself even if you don't get that promised reality. 9/10 Snowblind: Oh the sweet simplicity of some cocaine. “My eyes are blind, but I can see” verse fucks, love how it’s sang and the solo it goes into. What the hell is that instrument at the end??? 9/10 Cornucopia: A dark turn, almost like he’s trying to share the wisdom he found in Supernaut but almost circled back to the nihilism, almost gives cult leader 6/10 Laguna Sunrise: A lovely instrumental 7/10 St. Vitus Dance: A snazzy tune, 9/10 Under the Sun: RIP Ozzy, you very much lived your life on your own terms 9.5/10
