Great instrumentation and a sound that strongly invokes an era gone by. You can see the roots of the slower darker jazz among the upbeat melodies in this one. Songs are all super short like pop music which this may have been. The Wikipedia tells an interesting tale of how this album was made. Enjoyable but more as a reference to the late 50s than a jazz album in itself. Music still banging though

Great vocals with memorable percussion. Definitely something to listen to again

Good album with a classic sound. Great voice by Ray Charles, of course, but also amazing instrumentals and lovely backup singers. Songs get a bit repetitive, especially with such a large album, but definitely worth relistening
