1001 Albums Summary

1. Come Together - remember listening to this when I was younger & being attracted to the nearly nonsensical lyrics. Also, it's a John driven song, Paul seems absent, but the duet is there. Is it Ringo? Just googled, it's Paul doing back up vocals, but the song features strongly of Ringo on drums & George's familiar guitar riffs. The song was inspired by Timothy Leary's campaign slogan "Come Together" AGAINST RONALD REAGAN. Did not know that! 2. Carry That Weight starts on a booming chorus. It's like being late to the orchestra, opening the door at the back of the theater, and getting hit with a wall of sound. It's very "anthem without context" & easy to imagine the singers with arms wrapped around each other, swaying side to side. More feature of Ringo's talent on drums & George on guitar. The transition into The End adds to that "was this written as a soundtrack?" mystique.

Groaned when I saw this one bc not a big fan of Christmas music, HOWEVER my big gripe should be why isn't this called "Darlene Love presents..." Talk about women being the creators of Holiday Magic. Good nostalgic album.

Not usually one to say this bc I like SO MANY different bands & different genres, but The Band is not my cup of tea. I can think of other bands like them that I love but I can't catch this vibe for some reason. And when I found them on Spot I was already following them but probably for a song on a different album.
