Such a fun way to start this album gen! I wasn’t familiar with the band, but hell yeah—that was a GREAT record! I just realized the first track, Tom Sawyer, is their hit. 1. Tom Sawyer – I love the synths before the guitar solo; they’re so eargasmic. I also can’t ignore the bass growl pattern throughout the song—such a nice implementation. 2. Red Barchetta – VERY GOOD PRODUCTION. The segment before the bridge—holy shit—I feel like an 80s rocker. The spacious vocals are incredible too. My favorite track on the album. 3. YYZ – Intermission jumpscare, HAHAHA. This track splits the album in half: the first half is energetic and bumpy, while the second leans more toward ballad-style rock. It sounds like a DBZ boss fight with its aggressive melodic guitars. The immediate pacing changes are absolute chef’s kiss! 4. Limelight – Definitely the start of the second half. It takes a slightly calmer approach, especially in the guitar solo. 5. The Camera Eye – Ten minutes long—this better be worth it (spoiler alert: it is). The alien synths and the arpeggios in the intro are goddamn amazing. The transitions feel divine; I can’t believe I’m still listening to the same song every time one pops off. As it progresses, the cohesion is undeniable. 6. Witch Hunt (Part III of Fear) – Those Pink Floyd-style bells again, hahaha! This was an OK track, but it didn’t really speak to me. 7. Vital Signs – I love the concept—very electronics & communications-inspired. ISTG, they’re so good at shaping their synths and positioning them in this record, especially here. GREAT TRACK! EVERYBODY NEEDS TO DEVIATE FROM THE NORM. Device: Edifier MR5 (Monitoring Mode) Streaming Platform: Apple Music
