1001 Albums Summary

A few good folk rock sort of songs, saved to the grab bag.

Obviously knew immigrant song. Appreciate the chill side of this, some great road trip songs on here. Saved Since I’ve Been Loving You, Out on the Tiles, That’s the Way, and Bron-Y-Aur Stomp. I don’t trust them to not be soooo offensive but didn’t listen very closely, so fingers crossed they’re not?

Of course I know this one well. Has some real gems! Shocked it made the cut. Both because it’s new and because well… star-crossed biased me against her and bleeds over to her other work. On this listen, though, reminded me it is a good one. Four stars because I think it’s great - but hesitantly because my familiarity gives it an unfair boost. Other 3 stars are more musically interesting but hard to fully appreciate in one listen.

okay this is almost 5 because honestly, flawless for this genre. seems like it had big aspirations and killed it. but it’s not one of my main genres, so 5 if we’re going off execution, 4 for my appreciation. some was so vulgar it almost made me flinch which is rare for me, i don’t care - but the slow paced conversational songs about sex that just get so…. almost surgical? not for me. but there’s some bangers.

I think it’s good; it feels like it calls back to 70s rock, especially the vocals. It is the first album that I think I’ll be revisiting for casual listening (outside of the Grab Bag)

Look. It’s not bad by any means, but her voice wasn’t as impressive to me as others with a similar style, and I don’t feel like I’ll remember it. I do think I skipped the last couple but really it was just not standout for me.
