"Out of the Blue" by Electric Light Orchestra explores themes of love and perseverance, emphasizing the importance of truly finding yourself and your place in the world. The Space-y nature of the instrumentation in the album contrasts with the very grounded and real lyrics, providing harmony between the Earth and the Sky in the simplest of ways. Repeated motifs in the choral voices, mentions of the sky, and the robot voice give this album its signature charm, which listeners can expect from the biggest song on the album, “Mr. Blue Sky.” I find the back half of the album to be especially amazing, and it is the main portion that carries the entire album. Highly recommend this album, especially if you love “Mr. Blue Sky” and if you want to hear the song in the context of the album.
