A very funky feel to it. The album is very much of its time, the blend of psychedelic and funk ideals blended within rock. I do love the raspy voice of the lead singer. This is 100% a drive-in-the-car type album. It could probably grow on me after a few listens.
Very psychedelic from the first jump, blended with folk rock as well. There are some jazz influences in their instrumental breaks. Lyrically, my favorite song is beautiful. Their most popular songs seem to be Darkness, Darkness and Sunlight.
Steely Dan is alr a band I was aware of. They're a staple of the 70's rock scene. This album begins with a strong start of mixing that jazzy rock and blues. I love the use of the bass, very 50's-esque. As the album progresses, it gets more mellow with the delivery. This is definitely an album to listen to multiple times. There is a lot here that I would like to individually focus on. Good album!
