A Hard Day's Night by Beatles
Jan 22 2026

Didn't think I was that into early Beatles, but this really had some bangers! In particular, I Should Have Known Better and Any Time At All really stood out. Still not that into Can't Buy Me Love, but wonder if that would have really hit when the world was in black and white. Overall, sold!

Diamond Life by Sade
Jan 23 2026

Definitely didn't realise a few of these songs were Sade. Liked it - definitely smooth and funky, but still a product of the 80s which I'm yet to be converted to. Can see the vibe, but not totally feeling it.

Natty Dread by Bob Marley & The Wailers
Jan 24 2026

I had really high expectations for Bob and this album, to potentially discover some gems I hadn't heard. Unfortunately, the eureka moment never quite came for me. The first track, Lively Up Yourself, set us up for some guitar and brass creativity that didn't shine as much in the rest of the album. No Woman No Cry - obviously a classic - just didn't hit in the same way as the presumably more commonly played soulful live version. I hate to say this Bob, but many of the songs did just meld in the background for me.

#1 Record by Big Star
Jan 25 2026

Never heard of these guys - intriguing, and love the album cover. First track tells me this is probably an artist I needed in my life before now. Definitely some good tracks in there, and particularly loved the more sensitive but glam rock on a couple of them (e.g., Give Me Another Chance). The album as a whole, however, faded into the background at times with just a little something missing.

Paranoid by Black Sabbath
Jan 26 2026

From start to finish - impeccable.
