It's the first album I listened for this 1001 project and I'm not disappointed! I thought through the 1-5 rating matter and here's what I've got. I will try to be generous with fives. I'm not going to save the highest grade for the elite, groundbraking pieces of music because I can always write a short comment to express my opinion. 5/5
Finding out that Dire Straits is today's album felt like receiving a well-deserved prize or unwrapping the best Christmas present. Dear Santa, I behaved just fine and I was a diligent student! I got 4,5 (high 2:1) in the oral exam on medieval music history. This album sounds like victory. Thank you Newcastle for teaching me how to study well (and for many other things). I'm sending the warmest greetings:))
Damn! This lottery machine knows what I like. I wonder when we'll draw an album by someone I haven't listened to before...
I have good memories associated with every single song on this record. It's not just sentimental value, this album sounds truly amazing. Even though I can't make it through P.Y.T. with a straight face,
how can I not give this album a 5?
I have mixed feelings about this one. I really enjoyed some of the songs, but I probably won't listen to most of them again soon. The energy during the recording was very special and I could feel it while listening. I thought it was a bold move from Johnny Cash to play a concert at a prison. I've never heard of something like that before. Honestly, he's one of the very few artists who could make that happen in my opinion. If this album wasn't recorded live at such an extraordinary venue, I probably would have rated it lower.
The title says it all. It was too much power for me today. I better go back to Leonel Power...
I've never listened to so much jazz in one go before. Jazz and baking are a great combination. I don't really understand this kind of music. Today I finally realised that it doesn't matter for my enjoyment and appreciation. To my surprise, I had a great time.
Not my cup of tea. There were very few things I actually enjoyed.
Great voice! It's a shame that the songs were quite short. This album was a pleasant journey companion. I was cruising through the ice and snow with Elvis.
It's hard to believe that the albums are chosen randomly.
I didn't like it. Jimmy jazz was alright though.
Nice album for a slow morning. I enjoyed the experience. However, I think Bob Marley has better albums than this one. I really appreciated the sunshine this music brought me in the middle of winter.
I was in the mood for this. Acoustic, classic, poetic, and beautiful that's what this album is. The vocals and instrumentation, especially the guitar, moved me and evoked memories I cherish. Scarborough Fair/Canticle is particularly close to my heart; it's one of my favourites to sing at campfires.
