Doolittle by Pixies
Feb 04 2026

Sony XM4 Headphones Some vocals not the clearest to understand without reading lyrics but otherwise a very good alt rock 'cool kid' album. Mix is a little muddy in some tracks, needs a lot of volume to get the best of it, however could be headphones. Will revisit with different equipment. Plenty of bangers, pace keeps up throughout the whole album and doesn't tail off towards the end. Bass playing is notably good.

Green by R.E.M.
Feb 06 2026

HD560s Green is still a great album, maybe my 4th or 5th revisit. Pretty timeless collection tracks reflecting the dissatisfaction in the state of the world, applicable as much to 2026 as it was to 1988. Mandolin and bright acoustic janglies carry the slow songs and trebley overdriven guitar brings energy to the pop rock songs. Side A is upbeat, 'buy this record' pop rock and Side B is more like 'here's what we really came to say'. Orange Crush and Stand are the hits, You Are The Everything is the hidden gem.

Back In Black by AC/DC

HD560s Played loud, 10 songs, pretty much all perfect. Brian's first and best ac/dc album. New found appreciation for the rock and roll lyrics, Shake A Leg is underrated and fun, although a band probably would not produce such a song nowadays. A timeless favourite.

New Wave Sax Yacht Rock? Who is this for?? Me, apparently. Incredible production, mixing & mastering. Musically super detailed & interesting, I am sure music students study this.
