1001 Albums Summary

This is one of those quintessentially of their era albums, it just screams late 60s to 70s, and a lot of that perception is probably because he was one of the key artists that shaped that era. There isn't a whole lot going on with the production, just a man and his guitar for the most part. It feels like a very lonely album, without much to say outside of his own world. I think my favorite songs were "Words" or one of "Out on the Weekend" or "Harvest". I especially thought "Heart of Gold" was a let down.

Billy Joel proves why his songs will be played in every single piano bar every night until the end of time. From the opener with "Movin Out", to "Vienna", to "Only the Good Die Young", it's banger after banger. Truly timeless on the ivories and a great voice to boot. A generational talent.
