Jagged Little Pill by Alanis Morissette
Feb 26 2026

Had always heard songs from this album in passing, but never considered sitting down to truly listen to them together. The whole album is, for lack of a better word really, powerful. Not to be on-the-nose, but every song in this album oozed the duality of being female & feminine, but with the loud overtone of not being reserved. Expression & freedom to be able to express yourself, unforgivingly, was a theme that stuck with us throughout listening. There was not a song we didn't like. The way her voice is both loud, echoing & unreserved is fantastic to hear. It is never grating & shakes you when you allow yourself to be taken in with it. Alanis Morissette's voice is really unique, in our eyes, in both her lyrical writing & her powerful sound. Truly was a surprise to realize the songs we had heard playing in stores, radios, cars, gas stations etc, when we were a child, are from an album so much a statement about so many things. Almost a protest album. Absolutely spectacular & thankful for having listened to it.

Lust For Life by Iggy Pop
Feb 27 2026

A wild & personal ride of an album. Felt as though Iggy (& David Bowie) both put everything they had into the album. Especially their honesty with how they viewed life at the time. Loved that the albums songs, Like "Sixteen" & "Fall in Love with Me", challenged me. "Some Weird Sin" & "Passenger" felt like they connected with us the most, especially with that relatability of being secondary to someone elses control on a journey. "Turn Blue" is one of those songs that you love because it is haunting. Felt both celebratory of life & the loss of it while also treating the event of an overdose as what it is, tragic. Will have to listen to this album once every now & then as it cut me deeply.

Black Sabbath by Black Sabbath
Mar 02 2026

Enjoyable & had that first metal taste to it. Being the first album from Black Sabbath, you can both here what sounds within their works they would go on to develop. Truly interesting to listen to an album that was both the birth of a extremely important band, musically, & what was essential the birth of Dark, Satanic, Heavy Metal, as a genre. The large, chunky & whirring guitar(s) through out are the real winner for us. Vocally & lyrically there is depth, but hearing the absolute & unbridled sounds from the guitar took all the lime-light. Like cream, but worse ~
