1001 Albums Summary

classic classic rock. sounds like a real band. great rhythm. great performances (overall), especially by Richie Blackmore on guitar and Jon Lord on Hammond organ. Organ played like a guitar often. Nice natural overdriven guitar tones. Highway Star - Proto-Iron Maiden guitar and organ harmonies, interesting delayed bass in intro. Maybe I'm a Leo - a vibe, great drumming and rhythmic feel in general. Doors-y blues middle section (Crawling King Snake). Nice combination of guitar, Rhodes, and Hammond. Pictures of Home - Another cool proto-Maiden song, in the galloping and chord changes. Cool harmony. Sweet chromatic harmonized Hammond solo. Great bass solo. Never Before - fun room reverb on L guitar. Led Zeppelin Good Times Bad Times riff Smoke on the Water - Absolute cinema Lazy - decent live bluesy song Space Truckin' - silly concept, but legendary riffs. Kind of like Not to Touch the Earth. sweet closing song. would be killer live. **(steal the "bloop"y guitar sound on the right at 2:40. Sounds like a cool synth patch. ** **Also steal the cowbell at the end.)**

Great songwriting, a little fatiguing to take it all in one go, just dense and the melodies can be easy to tune out--a little bit of a dated perspective in some ways but several incredible songs and some absolutely gorgeous lines. Great instrumentation and recording quality. Suzanne - Absolutely insane--Gave me physical chills. Reminds me of The Lighthouse and Harold and Maude Master Song - fantastic arrangement, love the upright bass, tremolo guitar, muted trumpet with delay/reverb is insane!! "angel glands" Winter Lady - Lovely guitar tone/recording quality in general--reminds me of Haley's Martin through the OC818 + Focusrite ISA one Hey, That's No Way to Say Goodbye - lovely love long One of Us Cannot Be Wrong - amazing, hopelessness, mistrust, disappointment, hypocrisy. Awesome laying of final texture--flute(or recorder) layered with scream-singing which then pans away and across, whistling in the middle. mouth noises.

I forgot how good this was, incredible performances, recording, mixes. Sounds like a real (great) band, Eddie Vedder's vocals are insane. Lightly processed, his natural voice is very powerful. Dynamics!! In rock?? Mixing error in Alive - right channel of drums (hi hat) disappears intermittently. Probably intentional--probably more obvious than intended.
