Bridge Over Troubled Water by Simon & Garfunkel
Mar 11 2026

The title track and the boxer have aged beautifully. the quieter tracks are graceful and the melodies are consistently lovely. some of the more jaunty numbers feel a bit stale but still wield a refreshing mix of styles, including jazz, r&b, soft rock, country and folk. a rewarding listen overall and one i wish to return to.

The Doors by The Doors
Mar 12 2026

Shockingly inventive at every turn. Light My Fire and The End are this album's crown jewels, meandering and amorphous as they are. The plush psychedelia is compelling without ever yielding to the rock cliches of the 60s.

Guero by Beck
Mar 13 2026

An enticing collection of tracks that really shine at their most experimental. Their really isn't a cohesive thematic thread, but the hot, sunny and frequently dusty Californian air frequently filters through the music. The quality sags in the second half but the first two songs are really wonderful and thoughtfully textured.

The Velvet Underground by The Velvet Underground
May 25 2026

Remarkably ahead of its time. While I'm still unaccustomed to Lou Reed's affected manner of singing, I nevertheless appreciated the audacious approach to both production and vocal delivery. Nico's tracks are all wonderful, which were all highlights along with Heroin and Sunday Morning. Hard to believe this came out in the 60s!
