1001 Albums Summary

I really liked this album! I had heard of it, but never sat down to listen to the whole thing until very recently, when I was recommended it. It was really fun to see that it was the first album on the list! I still plan to sit with the lyrics and do a listen-through like that, but I'm already planning to add it to my rotation as we head into the warmer seasons.

Thank goodness for folk. Back then, artists weren't as focused on sound bites or virality, and it shows. Dylan's vocal performance, though, is lacking (shocker!), if only there was a cover band or something with stellar vocalists to foster a kind of second-wave Dylan movement. Alas.

I liked it more than I thought I was going to, actually! It started out, and I was like, "oh maybe I'm not really an Alanis Morissette fan" because she (her vocals especially) just seems like an acquired taste, but I guess all you need is a third to a half of an album to acquire it because I was hooked pretty solidly by halfway through.

Sam Cooke is one of my favorite artists of all time, so this is no shocker. But this live album just sounded so fun! It was my first time hearing it, and boy, was I impressed! Not only is he a generational talent, but he had fun doing something he was good at, which is all we could really wish for ourselves and others. Will definitely be added to the rotation.

It was alright. The last track was the most interesting to me, but honestly, I couldn't see myself reaching for the record again.
