Overall, I thought Appetite for Destruction was okay. I can see the appeal, as Axl Rose's falsetto scream works pretty well in "Welcome to the Jungle" but is grating in everything else. Honestly, listening to this album in one sitting is simply not the way to do it: most of the tracks blend together into a shout-and-power-chord slurry. It turns out that I'm a certified Guns N' Roses normie. My favorite tracks were "Welcome to the Jungle," "Paradise City," and "Sweet Child O' Mine," which are, by far, the most popular Guns N' Roses songs, with over morbillion plays combined. But maybe it's a "wisdom of the crowds" thing, or that I've heard those tracks are the ones I've heard most often and have come to appreciate due to familiarity. Though I did also like "Mr. Brownstone" and "My Michelle," which aren't exactly deep cuts or sleeper hits, but are still (arguably) not normie picks. It's a little wild that this was the band's debut album, given that some of its tracks are THE most popular ones in the entire discography (at least, that's what Spotify says).
